Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal and Pittsburgh Pirates phenom Paul Skenes were crowned Cy Young Award winners for the American League and National League respectively on Wednesday.
Skubal finished ahead of fellow finalists Garrett Crochet and Hunter Brown to claim the award for the second straight season.
The 28-year-old’s back-to-back triumph made him the 23rd pitcher in MLB history to win the honour multiple times.

Meanwhile, Skenes added another milestone to his rapid rise by winning the NL Cy Young Award, beating out the Philadelphia Phillies’ Cristopher Sanchez and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, who played a crucial role in the Los Angeles Dodgers’ 2025 World Series title run.
The Pirates right-hander became just the third pitcher to win Rookie of the Year and Cy Young within his first two MLB seasons, joining Fernando Valenzuela and Dwight Gooden.
