Padel to debut at Asian Games after OCA recognition

Padel is set to make its Asian Games debut after the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) officially recognised the International Padel Federation (FIP).

The announcement on November 10 marked a major step for the emerging sport to be added to the continent’s multi-sport showpiece held every four years.

It followed padel’s recent inclusion in several international events, including the 2022 South American Games, the 2023 European Games and the upcoming 2026 Mediterranean Games.

FIP president Luigi Carraro described the decision as a landmark moment.

“Being part of the Asian Games is a historic achievement for padel,” he said.

“Our athletes will now have the opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in world sport.”

The next edition of the Asian Games will be staged in Aichi-Nagoya in 2026, running from September 19 to October 4, followed by Doha hosting it in 2030.
