Perfect Weekend for Arsenal: Can Anyone Stop Them From Winning the Premier League?

Arsenal fans couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. The Gunners not only claimed bragging rights in the North London derby but also watched their closest rivals stumble, leaving them six points clear at the top of the Premier League table.

Dominance at the Emirates

On Sunday (23/11/2025), Arsenal dismantled Tottenham Hotspur 4-1 at the Emirates Stadium in a fiery derby that showcased their attacking brilliance. Leandro Trossard opened the scoring after a sublime pass from makeshift striker Mikel Merino, setting the tone for a dominant display. Spurs, surprisingly toothless, failed to register a shot until the 55th minute.

The star of the show? Eberechi Eze, who etched his name into Arsenal folklore with a stunning hat-trick—the first by an Arsenal player against Spurs since 1978. His clinical finishing and relentless movement left Tottenham chasing shadows.

After the match, Mikel Arteta praised Eze’s work ethic:
“Things happen for a reason. After the international duty, he had two days off and, after one day, he wanted to train and improve. He was asking me questions about this and that. When a player has such a talent and his desire is at that level, then these things happen.”

Title Rivals Falter

If Arsenal’s win wasn’t sweet enough, their main challengers all dropped points. Liverpool suffered a shocking 0-3 defeat at Anfield to Nottingham Forest, while Manchester City were stunned 1-2 by Newcastle. Chelsea remain the closest threat, sitting second after a strong run of five wins in six, but even they trail by six points.

Can Anyone Challenge Them?

  • Chelsea: In good form and hosting Arsenal next weekend in a clash that could cut the gap to three points.
  • Manchester City: Still dangerous, but inconsistency and over-reliance on Erling Haaland have raised doubts. Two defeats in their last four games suggest cracks.
  • Liverpool: Their title defense looks over. Six losses in seven have left them languishing mid-table.

What Does a Six-Point Lead Mean?

Arteta remains grounded despite the cushion:
“In this league? Not much. We are doing really well. We’ve been really consistent and that’s it. When you look at the results, whether they win or lose, the difference in the scoreline and actually what happens in games is really small.”

The upcoming clash against Chelsea could define the season. Win, and Arsenal tighten their grip on the title race. Lose, and the door swings open for their rivals. Either way, the stakes couldn’t be higher.
