Pascal Wehrlein secured his second Formula E world championship in extraordinary circumstances on Sunday, with a 14th-place finish at the season-ending London E-Prix proving enough to seal the title.
The Porsche driver endured a difficult title decider and dropped outside the points in the closing stages, opening the door for Dennis, who had fought his way from 17th on the grid to seventh, a position that would have been enough to snatch the championship.
However, the title swung back Wehrlein’s way when he activated Attack Mode and began recovering through the field.
The decisive moment came in the closing stages when Wehrlein clipped Joel Eriksson, who then collected Dennis in a three-car collision that left the two championship rivals outside the points.

Dennis was forced into the pits with front-wing damage and eventually finished 18th, while Wehrlein recovered to 14th.
Evans could’ve snatched the world title with a win but the Jaguar driver could only manage fourth, confirming Wehrlein as world champion despite failing to score a point.
It completed a remarkable weekend turnaround for the German, who had arrived in London trailing Dennis by five points before taking pole position and winning Saturday’s opening race to seize control of the championship ahead of the decider.
The triumph made Wehrlein only the second driver to win multiple Formula E titles after Jean-Eric Vergne, who won back-to-back championships in 2017/18 and 2018/19.
Wehrlein’s first crown also came in London two years ago, when he beat Evans and Nick Cassidy to the 2023/24 championship.
There was also history at the front of Sunday’s race as Taylor Barnard claimed victory in the final race of the Gen3 era, becoming the youngest race winner in Formula E history at the age of 22.
Evans, meanwhile, could take solace in ending his decade-long association with Jaguar TCS Racing on a positive note as the British manufacturer secured the teams’ world championship.
