An Se-young is rewriting the rules of dominance in badminton. Appearing recently on tvN’s You Quiz on the Block, the world No. 1 revealed the secret behind her incredible consistency: discipline, confidence, and a mindset focused on growth.
In 2025 alone, she has competed in 13 international tournaments, winning nine of them, and boasts an astonishing 94% win rate. Now, she’s chasing history at her 14th event—the Australia Open Super 500.
Her trophy cabinet this season already includes victories at the Malaysia Open (Super 1.000), India Open (Super 750), Orleans Masters (Super 300), All England Open (Super 1.000), Indonesia Open (Super 1.000), Japan Open (Super 750), China Masters (Super 750), Denmark Open (Super 750), and France Open (Super 750).
Reflecting on her peak form, An said, “Now is the time to keep rising. These days, I’ve had fewer injuries, so my condition has improved a lot. I feel more confident.” She added, “Being world No. 1, I’m excited and looking forward to seeing what kind of performance I can show.”
Chasing Legends
But the challenge isn’t over. After Australia, she will head to the World Tour Finals in December. If she wins in Sydney, An will break her own record of nine titles in a single season, set two years ago, and raise it to 10.
And if she adds the Finals crown, she will tie the all-time record of 11 wins in a season, held by Japan’s Kento Momota since 2019.
Currently, An Se-young has held the No. 1 ranking for 57 consecutive weeks, totaling 119 weeks at the top.
Her next hurdle? A quarterfinal clash against Suizu Manami at the Australia Open. With history within reach, the badminton world is watching closely—can An Se-young achieve the perfect finish to a near-perfect season?
