Arsenal, Chelsea brace for packed December

The notorious December stretch in the Premier League has arrived.

It is a period long regarded as one of the decisive phases of the season, testing squad depth and resilience especially for those competing on multiple fronts.

Fresh from their 1-1 draw, Arsenal and Chelsea now face the heaviest workloads among England’s top sides. Both clubs are set to contest eight matches across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League and Carabao Cup, playing a game almost every three days on average and leaving little room for rotation or recovery.

They are not alone in their endurance test. Fellow Carabao Cup quarter-finalists Newcastle United and Crystal Palace also face eight fixtures, with both clubs attempting to juggle league ambitions with European commitments.

Among the traditional Big Six, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have comparatively lighter calendars at six fixtures apiece. The reduced load could prove significant, offering crucial preparation time during a month where even minor margins often shape the second half of the season.
