Viktor Axelsen and Lee Zii Jia are among the big names set to compete in the 2025 Syed Modi India International in Lucknow, India, this November.
Taking place from November 25-30, it will be Axelsen’s second appearance at the tournament – his last being a decade ago when he lost to Parupalli Kashyap in the semi-finals – while it will mark Lee’s debut at the Super 300 event.
Both badminton stars are seeking much-needed match fitness after struggling with injuries throughout the year.
The 31-year-old Dane returned to competitive action after six months at the Hong Kong Open in September, before competing in the second BDMNTN-XL edition in Jakarta, Indonesia, the following month.
As for the Malaysian shuttler, Lee managed to compete in only five tournaments in 2025, missing major events such as the Malaysia Open, French Open and Hylo Open.
In addition to the Syed Modi India International, Lee is also registered to play at the Japan Masters (November 11-16) and the Australian Open (November 18-23).
Other notable players looking to make an impression at the Babu Banarasi Das Indoor Stadium include 2023 men’s doubles winners Choong Hon Jian-Haikal Muhammad, Singaporean men’s singles player Jason Teh, 2017 world champion Nozomi Okuhara and Indonesian women’s doubles pair Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti-Apriyani Rahayu.
Meanwhile, the host nation are set to be represented by the likes of H. S. Prannoy, Srikanth Kidambi, Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand Pullela and Rutaparna Panda-Swetaparna.
