“The inaugural BXL Jakarta edition truly captured the imagination of both fans and players,” said Lee Choong Khay, CEO of SPOTV Asia.
“Returning to Jakarta with more enhancements underscores our ambition to deliver a one-of-a-kind sports and entertainment spectacle.
“This upcoming star-studded event re-affirms our commitment to reimagine Badminton and continue the growth of BDMNTN-XL.”
Sharing this bold vision is none other than two-time Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen, who returns to BXL Jakarta 2025 not only as a player, but BDMNTN-XL’s newly appointed official Ambassador.
“BXL is a game-changer. It brings a whole new energy to badminton that’s both thrilling and innovative,” said Axelsen.
“Being part of it from the beginning has been incredible, and I’m proud to now champion its growth as Ambassador. I’m fired up to deliver an even bigger performance this year, both on and off the court.”
BXL Jakarta 2025 will feature an expanded player pool, growing from 28 to 32 athletes, with each of the four teams – Blitzers, Hurricanes, Lightning, and Rockets – fielding eight players (four men, four women). The full roster will be unveiled in stages as the event approaches.
Like last year, the teams will compete in a single-round robin format, with the top two advancing to the final, but the stakes are higher this time. In a refreshed format, each team tie comprises two singles matches and two 3×3 contests – one with one male and two female players, and the other with two male and one female players.
Games are now eight minutes each, amplifying intensity, accelerating the pace, and forcing players into high-stakes, split-second decisions, aimed at delivering a faster, fiercer spectacle that keeps fans on the edge of their seats and delivers non-stop action for global broadcasts.
New innovations like the Ultimate Shuttle Showdown and Pressure Point raise the stakes even further, injecting drama, unpredictability, and heart-pounding moments designed to thrill fans.
The BXL Jakarta 2025 champions will take home USD350,000, with prize money to be split equally across team members, meaning players from the winning team will take home USD43,750 each. Players from the remaining teams will collect either USD25,000 or USD12,500 in prize money based on their team’s performance.
Tickets for this year’s event start at Rp65,000 and are available via Loket.com from 1pm (WIB) on 4 September. With limited seats available and demand expected to be high, fans are encouraged to secure their tickets early to be part of one of the most exciting sporting events of the year.
