Jorge Martin explained that his early exit from Sunday’s Valencia Grand Prix was agreed with his Aprilia Racing team before the race even started.
The Spaniard endured an injury-hit 2025 MotoGP season, beginning with a preseason incident that ruled him out until the fourth round in Qatar, where he immediately suffered another crash that forced a lengthy lay-off.
After finally rejoining the grid in the Czech Republic, another injury in Japan halted the 2024 world champion’s comeback and kept him out until the season finale in Valencia.

Given his condition, the 27-year-old said there was never any intention to go the distance.
“I already knew before the race that I would end [early],” Martin said during a post-race interview.
“We spoke with the team and it was the better choice to try and do a few laps. I was also a bit tired, so there was no need to continue lapping.
“But I am happy with how the weekend went and now it’s time to think about 2026.”

Despite still not being fully fit, Martin set his sights on Tuesday’s post-season test.
“100%, I want to be in the test. We have a lot of important things to try,” he added.
“It’s looking good for Aprilia and the bike looks really well with Marco [Bezzecchi], but I still need to understand how it works.
“For me, it is not the best [with me yet], but it is just a matter of time. The team is helping me and supporting me a lot on that.”
