Al Nassr winger Sadio Mane spoke highly of the Roshn Saudi League following Senegal’s triumph at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The Teranga Lions, who were without captain and Al Hilal defender Kalidou Koulibaly due to suspension, edged hosts Morocco 1–0 in a dramatic final in Rabat, with Al Ahli goalkeeper Edouard Mendy saving a controversial injury-time penalty.
Later on, Mane, who was named the best player of the tournament, was involved in the build-up of Pape Gueye’s winning goal.
Speaking after the victory, the former Liverpool and Bayern Munich star said the strong showing of Saudi-based players at the tournament highlighted the league’s growing quality.
“I was crowned the best player of the tournament while playing in the Saudi league,” said Mane.
“And [Al Hilal and Morocco goalkeeper] Yassine Bono won the Best Goalkeeper award, and he is also a player in the Saudi league.
“This proves beyond any doubt that the Saudi league today is classified among the strongest and best leagues in the world.”
