Marc Marquez believes his brother Alex will be the closest challenger to his MotoGP crown in the upcoming season.

Marc sealed his seventh MotoGP world title last year despite suffering a season-ending injury at the Indonesian Grand Prix, while Alex finished second in the riders’ standings.

The younger Marquez, riding for Gresini Racing, impressed with his consistency throughout the campaign, even leading the championship during an early part of the season.

It was therefore no surprise that the reigning champion picked his sibling as one of his main rivals when asked by Sky Italia during Ducati’s unveiling of their 2026 bike.

“The first is Alex, my brother; I’m answering based on the standings because he finished second last year,” Marc said.

“Then I put Pecco [Francesco Bagnaia], who is a two-time world champion and showed his potential in Japan.

“And there is also Aprilia, which finished very strong with [Marco] Bezzecchi and will be difficult to manage.”

The MotoGP season gets underway at the Thai Grand Prix on March 1, live on SPOTV NOW.
