After thrilling opening rounds in Sao Paulo and Mexico City, the Sunshine State hosts round three of the 2025/66 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, with early momentum already taking shape.
Nick Cassidy arrives in Miami leading the Drivers’ World Championship, while reigning champion Oliver Rowland remains one of his closest challengers – both are the only drivers to finish on the podium in the opening two races.
With championship momentum building, rookies under scrutiny, and several big names already under pressure, how will the Miami E-Prix unfold? Make sure to catch the action LIVE on SPOTV NOW.
Miami International Autodrome makes grand entrance
The Miami E-Prix will be held for the first time at the Miami International Autodrome, after previous Formula E visits to the city at the Biscayne Bay Street Circuit for its inaugural 2015 event and then the Homestead-Miami Speedway last season.
For most of the grid, the Autodrome represents entirely new territory. However, one driver interestingly arrives with prior competitive experience: Nyck de Vries. The Mahindra Racing driver raced at the circuit during the 2023 Formula One season while driving for AlphaTauri, making him the only current Formula E driver to have competed in a Grand Prix here.
Fourth edition of Rookie Free Practice
Separate from the championship’s annual rookie test and from regular Free Practice sessions run by full-time drivers, the Rookie Free Practice is back again to offer teams a short but valuable opportunity to evaluate emerging talent during a race weekend.
This year’s line-up, which includes the returning Zak O’Sullivan, Theo Pourchaire and Gabriele Mini, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of Felipe Drugovich (Rome), Jehan Daruvala (Jeddah) and Zane Maloney (Misano), all of whom went on to become full-time Formula E race drivers after featuring in past Rookie Free Practice sessions.

Former champions still searching for points
Despite the season being only two races old, it is already eye-catching to see two former Formula E world champions at the bottom of the standings. Antonio Felix da Costa and Lucas di Grassi are yet to score a point and will be eager to kick-start their campaigns in Miami.
They are joined by several other high-profile drivers hoping for a turnaround, including 14-time race winner Mitch Evans, former Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich and 2025 Jakarta E-Prix winner Dan Ticktum.
