{"id":3105,"date":"2026-01-06T05:34:43","date_gmt":"2026-01-06T05:34:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spotvnow.com\/read\/?p=3105"},"modified":"2026-01-13T07:18:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T07:18:19","slug":"only-three-motogp-riders-confirmed-for-2027-season-so-far","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spotvnow.com\/read\/only-three-motogp-riders-confirmed-for-2027-season-so-far\/","title":{"rendered":"Three MotoGP riders confirmed for 2027 season so far"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 2026 MotoGP preseason is fast approaching, with the Sepang Test less than a month away and set to offer the first on-track indication of what lies ahead.<\/p>\n<p>While much of the immediate focus remains on preparations for 2026, attention has also begun to shift towards the 2027 season, which will usher in a major overhaul of MotoGP\u2019s technical regulations.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V9WFehw9Pmg?si=Bc2zgtdQolHm6YAc\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The upcoming rule changes will represent the most significant shift in the premier class since the 2007-2012 period, when engine capacity was reduced from 990cc to 800cc before eventually settling with the current 1000cc. From 2027, engine size will be reduced to 850cc, while all bikes will also be required to run on 100 per cent sustainable fuel.<\/p>\n<p>With the new regulations introducing a degree of uncertainty and risk, it is perhaps no surprise that teams and riders have been reluctant to commit long-term. At the time of writing, here are the only riders who have confirmed contracts covering the 2027 season:<\/p>\n<h2>Johann Zarco<\/h2>\n<p>Zarco became the first rider confirmed for 2027 after signing a two-year contract extension with LCR Honda last September.
