Even Nick Cassidy (104) and Nyck de Vries (94) remain mathematically alive in the title race, leaving the title battle poised to go the distance and underlining the series&#8217; reputation for producing some of motorsport&#8217;s closest championship finishes.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, Formula E has delivered seven final-race title deciders. Here is how each unfolded:<\/p>\n<h2>2014\/15: Piquet wins inaugural crown by a point<\/h2>\n<p>The inaugural Formula E season couldn\u2019t have ended more dramatic in London, as a Senna helped a Piquet win the world championship. Renault\u2019s Sebastien Buemi had reduced Nelson Piquet Jr.&#8217;s championship lead to five points by winning the penultimate race, but could not find a way past Mahindra&#8217;s Bruno Senna in the title decider and finished fifth. Their championship duel lasted barely a lap before Di Grassi ran into the back of Buemi, eliminating both from contention for victory. Under the regulations at the time, both rejoined in their second cars to chase the two bonus points for the fastest lap.
