autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The cross-border haze has affected the country since August, with smoke from forest and land fires in Indonesia contributing to poorer air quality.<\/p>\n<p>Sepang faced similar concerns in 2015, during one of the region\u2019s worst haze episodes.<\/p>\n<p>Organisers monitored air pollution at the circuit, but another consideration was whether visibility would allow the medical helicopter to operate.<\/p>\n<p>Race officials checked the helicopter\u2019s ability to fly and assessed how long an ambulance would take to reach hospital by road if an injured rider needed treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Despite those concerns, the Grand Prix went ahead over the full 20 laps on October 25.<\/p>\n<p>Dani Pedrosa won for Honda, finishing ahead of Yamaha teammates Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.<\/p>\n<p>The haze was ultimately overshadowed by Rossi\u2019s clash with Marc Marquez, which sent the Honda rider out of the race and became a defining moment in that year\u2019s title fight.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi received a penalty that left him starting the Valencia finale from the back of the grid, while Lorenzo departed Malaysia just seven points behind him.<\/p>\n<p>Rossi recovered to finish fourth in Valencia, but Lorenzo won the race to claim the championship by five points.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/zx9mm0epLMQ?si=VMvB0NKtp6FSoltK\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer;
