{"id":672,"date":"2025-10-29T04:39:31","date_gmt":"2025-10-29T04:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.spotvnow.com\/read\/?p=672"},"modified":"2025-11-05T07:25:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T07:25:18","slug":"bam-defend-malaysian-players-from-online-abuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.spotvnow.com\/read\/bam-defend-malaysian-players-from-online-abuse\/","title":{"rendered":"BAM defend Malaysian badminton players from online abuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) released a statement on Monday following allegations of online abuse directed at national players.<\/p>\n<p>It came after the conclusion of the 2025 French Open, where Malaysia&#8217;s men&#8217;s doubles pair Aaron Chia\/Soh Wooi Yik achieved the country&#8217;s best result by reaching the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RokJeM2oIEM?si=CFBekWCMNbfKtdQa\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201c[We are] aware of recent instances of online abuse and threats directed at national players,\u201d read the statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is absolutely no place for hate, intimidation or discrimination in badminton or in society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety and wellbeing of our athletes remain our utmost priority.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBAM strongly condemn such behaviour and urge everyone to express their views with respect and positivity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will continue to monitor the situation closely and support our players wherever needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>BAM did not specify which players were the targets of the online abuse.<\/p>\n<p>Other national players who competed at the Glaz Arena in France included Leong Jun Hao, Man Wei Chong\/Tee Kai Wun, Pearly Tan\/M.
