The Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex is set to become the epicenter of world-class table tennis as it hosts the WTT Star Contender Muscat 2025. The event kicks off with the qualifying rounds on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the main draw starting Wednesday, and culminating in the finals on Saturday, 22 November. The main draw will be broadcast live on SPOTV NOW.
Five Categories, $300,000 Prize Pool
Athletes will battle across five categories: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles, with a total prize purse of $300,000 up for grabs. This year’s edition promises fierce competition and high stakes.
With over 300 athletes from 32 countries, Muscat will host one of the largest WTT Star Contender events on the calendar, underscoring its growing significance in the global table tennis circuit.
Among the standout names is World No. 7 Felix Lebrun of France, a rising star in men’s singles. He will be joined by top contenders such as Darko Jorgic (Slovenia), Lin Yun-Ju (Chinese Taipei), Alexis Lebrun (France), and Dang Qiu (Germany).
The women’s field is equally formidable, featuring Japan’s Hina Hayata and Satsuki Odo, Romania’s Bernadette Szocs, Miyu Nagasaki (Japan), and Cheng I-Ching (Chinese Taipei).
Last Chance for WTT Finals Qualification
Muscat also serves as the final opportunity for players to secure spots at the WTT Finals Hong Kong 2025, scheduled for 10–14 December at the Hong Kong Coliseum. Only the Top 16 singles players and Top 7 doubles pairs at the entry deadline will qualify.
- Women’s Singles: 15 players have already qualified, leaving just one spot open. Sabine Winter currently holds that position, but her absence in Muscat means her fate rests on others. Joo Cheon-hui, trailing by only 61 points, is poised to challenge for the coveted 16th spot.
- Men’s Singles: 13 players are confirmed, with Simon Gauzy, An Jae-hyun, and Alexis Lebrun occupying the remaining positions. The margins are razor-thin, setting the stage for intense battles.
- Mixed Doubles: Five pairs have secured their places, leaving two spots still up for grabs.
With qualification for the WTT Finals on the line and a star-studded roster, Muscat promises drama, skill, and unforgettable moments. Fans can catch all the action live on SPOTV NOW as the world’s best converge in Oman for a week of table tennis excellence.
