Cristiano Ronaldo Meets Donald Trump at White House Ahead of World Cup 2026

Cristiano Ronaldo attends White House dinner hosted by Donald Trump.

Cristiano Ronaldo made a surprise appearance at the White House on Tuesday, November 18, joining U.S. President Donald Trump during a black-tie dinner that also welcomed Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The event drew an elite guest list, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Apple CEO Tim Cook, blending sports, politics, and business in a single evening.

Trump shared a personal moment during the dinner, saying, “My son is a big fan of Ronaldo. Barron got to meet him, and I think he respects his father a little bit more now that I’ve introduced you. Thank you for being here, it’s an honor.”

The meeting fulfilled a wish Ronaldo expressed earlier this month in an interview with Piers Morgan, where he praised Trump’s global influence: “He is one of the guys who can help to change the world. One of the most important guys is the U.S. president. If we can help each other to make this happen,” Ronaldo said.

The timing of this encounter is significant. Portugal officially qualified for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on November 17, and Ronaldo confirmed that the tournament—hosted across the USA, Canada, and Mexico—will “definitely” be his last.

If selected, he and Lionel Messi will become the first players in history to appear in six men’s World Cups, a milestone that cements their legendary status.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s club form remains exceptional. Playing for Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League, he has scored nine goals in eight matches this season, helping his team sit at the top of the table.

This weekend, he will lead Al Nassr against Al Khaleej on Sunday, November 23, as he chases his first league title since joining the club in 2023. Fans can catch the match live on SPOTV NOW.
