Interim Celtic manager Martin O’Neill has been recognized for his superb run of results by being named the SPFL Premiership Manager of the Month for November.

O’Neill led the Bhoys to victory in all three of their SPFL matches during the month, securing wins over Kilmarnock, St Mirren, and Hibernian. Watch highlights of these games and other live Scottish Premiership matches on SPOTV NOW.

Furthermore, the club advanced to the Premier Sports Cup final by defeating Rangers and achieved an impressive away victory over Feyenoord in the Europa League.

Speaking to the media at Lennoxtown on Tuesday (2/12/2025) ahead of Wednesday night’s match against Dundee, the interim boss shared his genuine delight at receiving the accolade.

“I’m really pleased, genuinely pleased about it,” he said. “I must have made some sort of impression. It will mean absolutely nothing to my wife—it never has done—but don’t worry, I will still show it to her! If, after tomorrow, we’re in a position to get close to Hearts, then that would be great.”

The Hoops legend stepped back into the dugout at the club’s moment of need following Brendan Rodgers’ resignation at the end of October.

O’Neill confirmed that Wednesday night’s game against Dundee will definitively be his last in charge.

“You will be relieved to know that this will absolutely be it after tomorrow evening,” O’Neill stated. “I’ve been assured by the board. The new man will come in. I’m not sure in terms of the process, but I know this is definitely my last game.”

He elaborated on his temporary assignment: “That was the remit. Whether I was going to last two weeks, or five or six weeks, that was always going to be the case. I’ve got no complaints at all.”

“I think it’s great that it’s not a continuation. A young gentleman is coming in, and it’s over to him, but obviously, we have a big game here tomorrow evening, and I’d like to win it if we can. It won’t be easy; Dundee did us a few weeks ago, so we’ve got a bit of a job on our hands.”

The 73-year-old manager concluded by praising his squad ahead of his final match, which will serve as his proper farewell to the fans.

“It’s about trying to win the game, really. Whatever comes or goes after that, the nice thing is that the players have responded and have shown a willingness to embrace some of the things that I think are important about the game. I couldn’t praise the players highly enough. We’ve got one more game to go for me—they have big, big nights ahead.”
