F1: The Movie has received four nominations, including Best Picture, at the upcoming 98th Academy Awards.

The racing blockbuster, which stars Brad Pitt and was co-produced by seven-time Formula One world champion Lewis Hamilton, has also earned Oscar nominations for Best Film Editing, Best Sound and Best Visual Effects.

It faces stiff competition in the four categories, particularly from Sinners, which leads the field with a record 16 nominations, surpassing the previous benchmark of 14 shared by All About Eve (1950), La La Land (2016) and Titanic (1997).

Released in June last year and directed by Joseph Kosinski, best known for Top Gun: Maverick, the film is set against the backdrop of the 2023 Formula One season.

It features appearances from real-life drivers and paddock personnel, including Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris and Fernando Alonso.

The film grossed more than US$600 million worldwide and was well received by both critics and motorsport fans for its blend of authentic racing footage and cinematic spectacle.

The Academy Awards ceremony will take place on March 15, happening during the same weekend of the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix.
