McLaren were fined €400,000 by the FIA for breaching Formula E’s cost cap regulations during its final season in the all-electric championship.
The fine came almost a year after the British manufacturer exited the racing series at the end of the 2024-25 campaign following a strategic review of its racing portfolio.

According to a statement published by the FIA on Thursday, McLaren Electric Racing Ltd exceeded the championship’s spending limit by 4.54 per cent, equivalent to £555,628.
The governing body classified the breach as a “minor overspend” and said it was primarily linked to costs incurred during the team’s wind-down process following its decision to leave the series.
The FIA added that McLaren voluntarily disclosed the overspend before the completion of its review and found no evidence that the team had acted in bad faith or sought a competitive advantage.
As part of an Accepted Breach Agreement, McLaren must pay the €400,000 fine within 30 days and cover the costs associated with the FIA’s investigation.
McLaren competed in Formula E between 2022 and 2025, securing one race victory and several podium finishes.
