With two more stops to go in the 2025 MotoGP season, the battle for third in the riders’ standings is the story to watch.
Champion Marc Marquez, who has suffered a season-ending injury in Indonesia, and brother Alex are untouchable at the top with 545 and 413 points respectively.

Marco Bezzecchi holds third on 291, five ahead of Francesco Bagnaia after the latter’s consecutive DNFs in the last three Grands Prix. Behind them, Pedro Acosta has found form with three straight second-place finishes.
As for Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team duo Franco Morbidelli and Fabio Di Giannantonio, they are still mathematically in contention, but trailing by over 64 points means it is highly unlikely for them to challenge for P3.
With a maximum of 74 points still up for grabs in the final two rounds in Portimao and Valencia, live on SPOTV and SPOTV NOW, here’s how the three-way fight for P3 could unfold:
If Bagnaia wins all races and sprints
- P3 for Bagnaia
If Bagnaia wins all races and finishes second in sprints
- P3 for Bezzecchi if he finishes second in races and wins sprints
If Bagnaia wins all sprints and finishes second in races
- P3 for Bagnaia if Bezzecchi is behind him in sprints and races
If Bagnaia wins one race and finishes second in another, and wins both sprints
- P3 for Bagnaia
If Bagnaia finishes second, third or fourth in sprints and races
- P3 for Bagnaia if he stays ahead of Bezzecchi in sprints and races
If Bagnaia wins sprints and matches Bezzecchi’s results in races
- P3 for Bagnaia
If Bagnaia finishes outside the points in a single race
- P3 for Bezzecchi if he podiums all races and sprints
If Acosta wins all races and sprints
- P3 for Acosta if Bezzecchi finishes fifth in races and second in sprints, and Bagnaia finishes lower than third in all
- P3 for Bagnaia if he finishes second in races and sprints
- P3 for Bagnaia if he finishes third in sprints and races and stays ahead of Bezzecchi
- P3 for Bezzecchi if he finishes second in sprints and third in races
If Acosta wins all races and finishes second in sprints
- P3 for Acosta if Bezzecchi finishes sixth in races and third in sprints, and Bagnaia finishes fourth in all
If Acosta finishes second in races and sprints
- P3 for Bezzecchi if he finishes sixth in both races and sprints, and ahead of Bagnaia
- P3 for Bagnaia if he finishes third in both races and sprints, and ahead of Bagnaia
