Haaland matches Malaysian legend Abdul Ghani record

Another record for Manchester City and Norway superstar Erling Haaland.

Norway goal-scoring machine Erling Haaland equalled the all-time record for finding the back of the net in the most consecutive international matches.

The Manchester City striker scored twice against Italy in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying on Sunday, taking his tally to 16 goals for the qualifying campaign and helping Norway secure automatic qualification.

The brace also saw him score in an 11th straight international match, matching Malaysian legend Abdul Ghani Minhat’s long-standing record from the 1960s, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).

Haaland’s run began in Norway’s 4–1 win over Slovenia in the UEFA Nations League in November 2024, and included a five-goal haul in an 11–1 victory over Moldova.

Across the 11 international matches he was involved in, the 24-year-old scored an incredible 21 goals.
