Ohtani, Judge go back-to-back MLB MVPs

Shohei Ohtani and Aaron Judge are the 2025 Major League Baseball Most Valuable Players.

Shohei Ohtani put the final touch on the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series triumph by defending his National League MVP crown, while Aaron Judge captured the American League honour for the second year running.

It marked the first time in MLB history that both leagues produced consecutive repeat MVP winners in the same season.

Ohtani, the Dodgers’ two-way superstar, was a unanimous selection by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

It was his third straight MVP award, one in the AL and two in the NL, and his fourth in the last five years.

Only the legendary Barry Bonds had more with seven MVPs, and was the only previous player to win the award three times in a row.

As for Judge, the New York Yankees captain held off Seattle Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh to clinch his second straight MVP title.
